Spencer Forge & Manufacturing – Spray Foam over Metal & Shingle Roof

The historic 125-year-old Spencer Forge & Manufacturing facility in Spencer, Ohio required a full roof restoration across three separate roof sections totaling 26,500 sq ft — including metal panels and shingles.

The Challenge

Three different roof types across a historic facility: metal panels, shingle sections, and complex penetrations. A traditional replacement would require significant structural work and disruption to manufacturing operations.

The Solution

West Roofing Systems applied spray polyurethane foam over all three roof sections. The foam conformed to the varied surfaces, sealed all penetrations, and created a unified seamless waterproof membrane. A silicone coating completed the system.

Results

All three roof sections were restored with a single system, receiving a new manufacturer's warranty. The historic facility was protected without a tear-off, preserving the structure and avoiding operational disruption.
