The Foundry (Medina, OH) – Historic Building Roof Restoration with Spray Foam

Nestled in Medina, Ohio, The Foundry Social & High Voltage Indoor Karting operates out of a beautifully restored building originally built in the 1870s. When roof leaks and aging materials threatened the building, West Roofing Systems delivered a modern solution that preserved the historic structure.

The Challenge

The existing roof on the historic building was failing, causing leaks that threatened the interior. A traditional tear-off was not ideal given the building's age and construction. A seamless, lightweight solution was needed.

The Solution

West Roofing Systems installed a spray polyurethane foam (SPF) roofing system, topped with a silicone coating. The foam conformed to the building's irregular surfaces and penetrations, creating a completely seamless waterproof membrane with excellent insulation value.

The Results

The Foundry received a 20-year manufacturer's warranty, eliminated all leaks, and improved the building's energy efficiency — all while preserving the historic structure. The spray foam system was ideal for this application due to its ability to adhere to irregular surfaces without a tear-off.
